Applause filled the room as Brian Chism was sworn in as Brunswick County Sheriff, officially moving from chief deputy to the county’s top law enforcement role. Sheriff Chism expressed gratitude for the community’s strong support and emphasized his commitment to being approachable and listening to citizens.

Among those celebrating was Wesley Brown, Jr., who once coached Chism in Little League and praised his character and leadership. Chism, who will serve the remainder of the current term through 2026, said his goal is to make small improvements to an already strong agency while continuing to serve the community.
